Old Bridge, NJ – Sep 7, 2016 – The Old Bridge Public Library will offer useful programs this month to residents interested in preserving their family history for future generations.

On Sun. Sept. 25 at 1:30pm, Gary Gellman, founder of Freehold-based Gellman Images, will present a program on “Creating A Family History Video.” The session will discuss how to gather family information, who to interview, how to record individuals and what editing equipment is needed.  Gellman will provide guidance about the creation process and how to collect necessary materials, from old family movies to newspaper articles. Over the past 27 years, Gellman has been featured nationally over 500 times in newspapers, magazines, and on radio and frequently speaks about multi-media issues at conventions in Las Vegas, Philadelphia, and Atlantic City. He completed his broadcasting and journalism studies at The College of New Jersey.

Additionally, the Library will feature a class entitled, “Your Digital Afterlife” on Mon. Sept. 26th at 4pm. Future heirlooms like family photos, home movies, and personal letters now exist largely in digital form.  These digital possessions form a rich collection that chronicle lives and connect people to one another.  This program will allow participants to examine what will happen to their treasured digital possessions after they pass on and will help determine steps that can be taken to ensure they can be preserved and shared.

The Old Bridge Public Library was recently voted “Best Public Library in Middlesex County” by the readers of the Home News Tribune.
