Old Bridge, NJ – Oct. 10, 2017 –  The Old Bridge Public Library will offer the following health and wellness-related programs this month:

In recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, on Thurs. Oct. 19th at 7pm, there will be a session titled, “Getting Ready for the New You: Strategies for Preparation and Recovery from Breast Surgery.” Licensed Occupational Therapist and breast cancer survivor Janice M. Woerner will provide tips on preparing for a hospital stay, and will offer suggestions on how to ensure an easier recovery. A short group exercise and Q&A session will follow the presentation.

On Thurs. Oct. 26th at 10:30am, the Library will present a “Reflexology and Foot Care” workshop. Dr. Sharon Joag and Tara Brown from East Brunswick Foot Care will explain the uses and successes of reflexology in treating the whole body. They will also speak about proper foot care and when to see a podiatrist.

Also on Thurs. Oct. 26th, there will be a “Mind and Body Connection” session at 7pm. Claudia Huegel, MD, and Carol Penn, DO, from Shrewsbury’s Medimorphosis Physician Assisted Weight Loss, will present the program. They will suggest practical techniques to help patients achieve motivation and behavioral changes to start thinking differently in order to make permanent changes in mind, body and life that will allow for weight loss. Dr. Huegel is Board Certified in Bariatric Medicine with over 12 years of experience in weight loss medicine, and Dr. Penn is Board Certified in Family Medicine and Osteopathic Manipulative Treatment.

The Old Bridge Public Library was recently voted one of the three Best Public Libraries in Middlesex County by the readers of the Home News Tribune.
