Old Bridge, NJ –  Feb. 7, 2019 – The Old Bridge Public Library, in conjunction with Collegium Musicum Education program, will welcome Violin Master and Restorer Jarek Powichrowski for “The History of the Violin” on Sunday, February 17th at 2pm.

Powichrowski, who is the founder and owner of Princeton Violins, will present a lecture about the rich history of the instrument, and will be joined by renowned violinist Alexei Yavtuhovich for a performance of pieces by Bach, Mozart, Paganini and others.

A Juilliard-educated professional violinist, Powichrowski is a New York-trained string instrument restorer and violin maker who studied in Cremona, Italy with respected contemporary Italian violin makers. He is also an expert appraiser of antique instruments.  He received two master of music degrees; one from the Chopin Academy of Music in Warsaw, and the other in violin performance from The New School’s Mannes College in New York. Powichrowski completed his professional studies at Juilliard, has performed around the world with various orchestras and has two recordings as a solo violinist.

Old Bridge resident Alexei Yavtuhovich was born in Belarus, earned a degree at Sokolovsky’s Musical College in Belarus, and was a member of the Belarus State Concert and State Chamber Orchestras and Belarus String Quartet. He has performed internationally throughout Europe.

The Collegium Musicum, Inc is a New Jersey-based music society and concert presenter, offering professional world-class music concerts, educational children’s programs, community outreach programs, master classes, and pre-concert lectures and discussions.

Attendees are asked to bring a non-perishable, unexpired food donation for the Old Bridge Food Pantry to this free event.
