Old Bridge, NJ – April 6, 2017 – In recognition of Money Smart Week (April 22-29), The Old Bridge Public Library will offer prospective entrepreneurs a workshop on how to successfully evolve a hobby into a business.
The “Turning a Hobby into a Business” program on Sat. April 22nd at 3pm will offer tips on how to proceed, and suggestions on how to develop a solid business plan. It will be presented by Steven Mamakas, founder of Kroozin Productions, and Executive Officer of the Old Bridge Mayor’s Office of Economic Development. The session will examine how Mamakas’ interest in cars and automotive preservation developed into a successful event, vintage and classic car show productions business. He will discuss the challenges he faced, start-up insights and research, business plan development and marketing, including the importance of the “11-second elevator pitch.” Attendees will receive handouts to use after the workshop, and representations from Middlesex County workforce development will also be on site to lend guidance.
Kroozin Productions was established in 1989 to provide the classic car community with premiere locations to show off their vintage and classic automobiles. Mamakas will explain how he works with town councils, PBAs and mayors to revitalize their towns by hosting vintage automotive events and providing another avenue for the owners to show off their cars. In addition, he will discuss the benefits of charitable interaction, examining the relationships established working with organizations such as Ronald McDonald house, Toys for Tots, M.A.D.D, MDA and Local DARE Programs in many communities.

Mamakas will also explain how to use publicity and marketing to ensure media coverage to help grow a business. Kroozin Productions automotive events have been featured on local media including: 101.5 FM, TV News 12, ABC 7, Home News Tribune, Star Ledger, Staten Island Advance, Newsday, and the NY Daily News.
The Old Bridge Public Library was recently voted one of the three Best Public Libraries in Middlesex County by the readers of the Home News Tribune.
