Old Bridge, NJ – June 6, 2017 – The Old Bridge Public Library will offer five technology classes this month, including new sessions on Amazon Echo, Travel and Vacation apps and If This, Then That.

On Fri. June 23rd at 11am, there will be a program on Travel and Vacation Apps. The session will explore new travel apps to help participants start vacation planning now. These iOS and Android apps can assist users in uncovering and locating destinations and then finding things to do once they arrive.

On Sun. June 25th at 2pm, there will be a session on Amazon Echo. Echo is a new hands-free, voice-controlled device that can play music, control smart home devices, provide information, read the news, set alarms, read audiobooks from Audible, and more. Participants will have an opportunity to explore and utilize the Echo Dot model.

On Thurs. June 29th at 11am, the Library will offer a class on the web-based service, “If This, Then That.” IFTTT is a free service used to create chains of simple conditional statements, called applets; e.g., IF it rains, THEN stop watering the plants. An applet is triggered by changes that occur within other web services such as Gmail, Facebook, Instagram, or Pinterest. An applet may send an e-mail message if the user tweets using a hashtag, or may copy a photo on Facebook to a user’s archive if someone tags a user in a photo. In addition to the Web-based application, IFTTT runs on iOS and Android.

In addition to these new classes, the Library will continue to offer its regular computer basics classes: Email Basics on Wed. June 14th at 7pm and Microsoft PowerPoint on Wed. June 21st at 7pm. Both classes require advance registration by calling 732-721-5600 x5033 or registering online at www.oldbridgelibrary.org. None of the other new classes require registration.
