Author and blogger Beth Lennon, AKA Mod Betty, shares where to find NJ’s best retro movie theaters, restaurants and other nostalgic roadside    attractions. Explosion at Morgan: Sun. June 9th @1:30pm.  While WWI raged in Europe, America scrambled to supply the Allies with ammunition, and several munitions plants were constructed near the Jersey Shore. The hastily-built and inferior plants caused tragedy on the night of October 4, 1918, when a series of explosions killed 100 people. Firemen and other volunteers were powerless to stop the destruction as it devastated the Morgan-South Amboy area and terrified the surrounding region. Local historian Randall Gabrielan will examine how this woeful disaster has largely been forgotten by history. Gabrielan is a member of the Monmouth County Historical Commission, and the County’s officially appointed historian. He has authored numerous books about Monmouth County.

Adult Trivia Night: Tues., June 11th @7pm.  The Library’s popular Trivia Night returns, offering a fun night of trivia, snacks and prizes in a game show atmosphere. The theme this month is Classic Rock. Players (ages 18+), can form their own team of up to six players, or be placed on a wild-card team once they arrive. No registration necessary.
